What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing this book?

I think he wanted to focus on the fact that some people are able to get help for their addictions while some can’t.

What motivates a given character’s actions? Do you think those actions are justified or ethical?

Addiction drives them all. The disease takes over in every way.

Admittedly, the cover isn’t the best cover but it does depict exactly what the book is about. Reflection, a feeling of being alone.

Which did you find more appealing, the introduction or the conclusion? This was unanimous, we were all irritated by the time we got to the end of the story. Had it been one long story and we were left with an open ending, then we can either expect another book in the series or pass it off as a conversation starter for book clubs. In this case, it was tedious. Every story had an open ending with no clue about how things will end up for the women.

Why would you recommend or not recommend this book? I would recommend this book to readers who are looking for a quick read. If you are looking for a serious story, with strong characters and a cohesive plot, this isn't the book for you.

Did the book description relate to the story? Yes, it did. Readers were able to gain more insight from the description and I liked this about the stories.

What did you like about this book? Loved the different characters and their history.

What makes the minor characters memorable? If they have important information that adds to the story.

Did you find any flaws in the book? No flaws, other than the one mistake about Sabine.

Consider the main character: what does he or she believe in? Adedeo believes in love and freedom. He wants to rid the world of blood suckers. He wants the humans to be safe.

Favourite character(s) … Charlie and Phineas.
Charlie for her open innocence. Phinaes for not allowing others to dictate how he lives his life.

In your own words, what was the beginning of the book. Charlie on a train with several other females. The train stops at a town and they all get off. Charlie mistakes a strange as the porter and asks for his help. She is later embarrassed to learn he is a merchant there to collect a shipment.

Which did you find more appealing, the introduction or the conclusion? Now this is a hard one. I love the beginning. The main character (Charlie) is in new territory. She is unknown to everyone. The conclusion, Charlie has taken control over her life and refuses to allow her evil step-father to dictate her life.

Tina and Kathy are being briefed in how best to intervene and help Ebony.

At the end of the book, do you feel hope for the characters? I feel hope that Tina and Kathy are closer. They did not have a strained relationship but Kathy was not close to her sisters. I got the feeling that she stood on the outside looking in with family members. With Kathy going to become a nun at such an early age she did not experience clubs or going out with friends/family. Most all family members seemed to treat her as being better than they were. Kathy kept overlooking this and did not see this happening.

What did you think was the most interesting part of the book? Why? Tina and Kathy at City Tracks a club. Kathy is enthralled about the club having a bowling alley inside.

What did you think of the main character? I really enjoyed reading about Kathy and her experience in learning more about life. Reading about Kathy seeing new stuff was like seeing the world thru the eyes of a child.

Top 3 things I liked about the book. It was extremely creative - the author added a whole new twist to the traditional Adam & Even story. The writing - although technical, it held my interest from beginning to end. The variety of characters - there is a long list of main characters that lend their voices to the story and it definitely kept the story going.

Cover. I was a bit confused. When we started reading the book, we were given one cover. Midway through our weekly discussions, we were notified of a different cover. As I was going to post my review, I realised there was another cover. So am not really sure which cover actually represents the book.

Really loved the cover. The fireball in the sky tells readers so much.

What did you like least?
The abuse to the animals. Trying to figure out why the author added this to a middle grade book.

Adiva, she tried to provide everything her husband wanted but it was never enough.

Top 3 things I liked about the setting in this book. The different places they traveled. They went to the best restaurants, the best shops. They lived a magical life.

What were the main themes of the book? The book was about torture, abuse, starvation and mental despair. The struggle of women just trying to stay alive. The author did an excellent job in sharing these stories.

Describe 2 different settings or locations. The warehouse, where the girls were held captive. It was dark, gloomy and a hellhole. The Captain's table which was the beginning of the end.

Were you able to connect with the main character?
Yes, I was so there with Elani. She was so captivating, so innocent, so young. I just wanted to reach out and help her.

Formatting / Appearance - There were no issues at all. It was easy to read and the editing was good as well.

The theme, idea, settings were all great. Marc is a very strong person to have written this down to share with the world.

What I liked.
I loved the entire book. Marc was incredible and is an inspiration to anyone who reads this tearful book .

Dark Side of Sunset Pointe - A Lance Underphal Mystery - Michael Allan Scott

List the five major events in the story in the correct order. Big Mike having an affair with Diane. Big Mike killed. Daniel and Sondra killed. Connie tried to commit suicide. All killers and partners caught.

What did the title have to do with the book? Shows the darker side of a neighborhood development. I wonder how true parts of this is are. Some of it seemed so real.

Is the title a good one or a poor one and why? The title fits. Everything is based on the money concerning this project.

A Tale of the Other Kind - Leandi Cameron

Five things you liked about the main character. Kai is driven, protective, loving, empathetic, adaptable. I loved everything about him.

If you could only save one character from the book, which one would it be and why? Kai - he has strong powers, just like his dad and I think there are more stories to come from him than any of the other characters.

Tell about the most exciting part of the book. When Astrid, Kai, Sienna and Ogel were fighting Quinn and the harpies. The author describes each scene in detail and I read this scene alone at least twice so I could experience it again.

What did you think of the story structure? The story structure came in the form of many different stories. Some connected, some didn't. Would have liked a little more plot.

Which secondary character resonated most with you and why? Stephan, Paddy's brother. Because he might be Flynn's father.

Is the story plot or character driven? Saul and Jayne are driven to find the answers, they so desperately need. The whole book is driven.

Is the plot well-developed? In most ways, yes although some emotions appear to be exaggerated.

How would the book have been different if it had taken place in a different time or place? Could have changed the whole context of the story and may not have been as realistic as it was.

What motivates a given character’s actions? Saul does everything he can to help Jayne. He uses every resource, he has. He won't give up.
